Labor, Delivery and Recovery
Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital labor, delivery and recovery facilities have specially trained professionals to care for you and your new baby. We have an OB/GYN doctor as well as Family Practice doctors specializing in Obstetrics on staff.
The LDR suites at FMDH are all inclusive so that you can labor, deliver your baby, and recover all in the same room. There is a waiting area close by for the convenience of your extended family and visitors.
Does FMDH offer any additional services to aid in the pregnancy and birthing process?
It is important to plan early in your pregnancy and be informed about this life changing experience. The team at FMDH offers childbirth preparation classes to help you. Each class is one day in length beginning at 9:00 am and concluding at 4:00 pm. During this time you will learn the anatomy of the pregnant woman, the labor and birth process, stages of labor, when to call or come to the hospital, Coping with the pain of labor, pain management options, unexpected labor/emergency delivery, signs and symptoms of pre-term labor and finally feeding and caring for your new baby. During the class there will be tours of the LDR suites and time for your personal questions. The team will assist you to develop a birthing plan to discuss with your doctor.
Class size is limited to those who register at least one week in advance. Bring your support person and repeat any portion of the class during your pregnancy to review the information. The classes are informative, casual and fun
In order to make your birth experience better, we invite you to preregister prior to going into labor. We offer preregistration sessions once per month. You can ask about the schedule for the sessions at your OB appointment or ask when they are held.
