Giving to the FMDH Foundation

What are my options in giving?
When it comes to picking your charity and how you want to support their mission, the options are endless.  Besides cash gifts the FMDH Foundation can receive stocks, bonds, and annuities.  Some donors prefer to name the FMDH Foundation as the beneficiary on life insurance policies, IRA's, or have remembered the FMDH Foundation with bequests in their wills.  See planned giving for more information!  Each of these helps build the FMDH Foundation's assets.

Currently the Foundation has four funds to give cash donations, memorials, honorariums, etc.
·         General Endowment: funds are invested and only the interest and dividends are used to purchase medical projects for FMDH and other community organizations.
·         Markle’s Ambulance Fund: helps support ambulance services in Glasgow, Hinsdale, Ophiem, & Lustre.
·         Scholarships Fund: to help the Foundation give out scholarships to second-year college students studying in a medical field who have graduated from the area.
·         Mammography Fund: established to help purchase a 3-D digital mammography machine in 2012. Donations kept coming in after the purchase, so this fund is still available for future needs.

Are gifts to the Foundation tax deductible?
Yes!  Contributions to the FMDH Foundation are tax deductible because the foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  Foundation staff will ensure that you receive proper receipts to use with your tax records as well as a year-end statement.

How can I serve the Foundation if I can't donate?
Great question!  Timing is everything and sometimes our budgets don't allow us to help in the ways we would like.  If  the mission of the FMDH Foundation is something you feel strongly about, consider serving on the Board of Directors.  Contact any current Board member or Mary Kate Tihista @ MaryKate.Tihista@fmdh.org.
