Tree of Life – Help us light the way

We hope this finds you healthy and looking forward to a New Year!  Going on right now, is the Foundation’s “Tree of Life”. The tree is a symbol of the support received from this community and is a unique way for friends to help friends. With each gift, you can remember or honor a special person or event in your life. The names of the honorees are written on recognition cards and hung, as a loving tribute on the tree.  An acknowledgement card will be sent to whomever you request. The tree will be lit November 29th, and  remain so until the New Year. It is a great way to pay tribute to our loved ones, and a very thoughtful present that continues to give even after the tree is taken down.

This year we were able to put $25,000 towards a new ambulance for Hinsdale, $24,000 towards medical scholarships, bladder scanner for FMDH, electric lift for Milk River Inc., and a UV cleaning system for EMS.  In total, we gifted over $70,000 to Valley County this year to ensure that you and your loved ones will receive the best care in rural America.

Our warmest thanks go out to you and we wish you and yours the most joyous of holiday seasons.

 Merry Christmas,

 MK

Mary Kate Tihista, Executive Director & the FMDH Foundation Board of Directors

Currently the Foundation has four funds to give cash donations, memorials, honorariums, etc.
  • General Endowment: funds are invested and only the interest and dividends are used to purchase medical projects for FMDH and other community organizations.
  • Markle’s Ambulance Fund: helps support ambulance services in Glasgow, Hinsdale, Ophiem, & Lustre.
  • Scholarships Fund: to help the Foundation give out scholarships to second-year college students studying in a medical field who have graduated from the area.
  • Mammography Fund: established to help purchase a 3-D digital mammography machine in 2012. Donations kept coming in after the purchase, so this fund is still available for future needs.
Are gifts to the Foundation tax deductible?

Yes!  Contributions to the FMDH Foundation are tax deductible because the foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  Foundation staff will ensure that you receive proper receipts to use with your tax records as well as a year-end statement.
