Ways to Give this Holiday Season with the FMDH Foundation
- Posted On:
It’s the season of giving. With all the stress and craziness that is the final month of the year, it’s also a time of gratitude and joy. We look to give back to those in need during the season. That’s where the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital (FMDH) Foundation helps us help others this holiday season.
Who is the FMDH Foundation?
The Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital Foundation began its charitable efforts in 1982. As an independent, non-profit organization, the FMDH Foundation aims to bring quality health care to the hospital and the community.
Who Benefits from the FMDH Foundation?
With your generous gifts, the FMDH Foundation is able to provide financial support to the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital and other organizations in Valley County, helping people of all ages in the area. From scholarships for second-year college students to funding for medical care in Valley County, the FMDH is proud to help the community and honor those who have contributed to the beating heart of Valley County.
The Tree of Life - Help Us Light the Way
Each year, the FMDH lights a tree to honor and remember loved ones and build a brighter future. When you give to support FMDH Foundation trusts or endowments, your gift is preserved in perpetuity, ensuring that it will thrive and continue to grow, impacting the lives of future generations. The Tree of Life has raised over $15,000 for important projects with the hospital and beyond. The Tree of Life has multiple choices for giving:
General Endowment
General Endowment funds allow the Foundation to purchase much-needed medical equipment for FMDH and other community organizations. We have purchased EKG machines for FMDH, bladder scanner for Valley View, Game Ready Systems for Hinsdale and GHS, and exercise equipment for Nashua Senior Center. Funds are invested, and only the interest and dividends are used to purchase medical projects for FMDH and other community organizations.
Markle’s Ambulance Fund
The Markle’s Ambulance Fund helps support ambulance services in Glasgow, Hinsdale, Ophiem, and Lustre and was set up in 1989 in memory of Tom & Florence Markle. This fund started with $20,000 and is now over $220,000.
Scholarship’s Fund
The Foundation gives out scholarships to second-year college students who have graduated from a Valley County high school. These funds have been set up in memory of loved ones who want to help local area students pursue their medical dreams. Many of the memorials have been made by families of employees who believe in the future of FMDH.
Mammography Fund
The Mammography Fund was established in 2010 when the FMDH Foundation pledged to support Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital to raise the funds necessary to purchase a Hologic digital tomography machine. This new technology allows the FMDH Radiologist to view breasts in a 3-D image, thereby allowing improved identification of potentially cancerous areas. We reached our goal at the end of 2012, and the digital machine is now serving FMDH patients. We will continue to have this fund to help with future expenses and make sure our patients receive top-of-the-line care.
Giving with the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital Foundation
In a time of hope, joy, and celebration, we are grateful for the FMDH Foundation and its continued efforts to support our hospital and community. And we are thankful to our wonderful donors and those who commit selfless acts to help their neighbors, strangers, and loved ones.
